                                        ASANTE SANA MUNGU!
I have realized in life, we don’t really know what we want or even what we need. There’s loads of wishing going on around. I want to be this or I want to be that, which is quite good except for the fact we never want none of the not-so-good ‘handbags’ that it comes attached with. A friend had a friend that loved her so much who just passed away. It is a very sad story, because this is coming from someone who hardly gets touched as long as I don’t know the person. I won’t want to bore anyone with the details, at least not today, now or ever. The eulogy this my friend gave about the deceased (May his gentle soul rest in peace), made me wish for a second or more that I loved someone that much/or received that much love. It was that magical. But then I said to myself, this guy is dead, dead! Would I want to have that much love circulating and it gets cut off like NEPA all of a sudden? My answer was a vehement no. Hell no! I wouldn’t wish for such, never! In fact I already have that much love in and around me; I just failed to realize it at that moment. But like me, most of us would just like to claim the a/b part of success/joy or whatsoever that we feel is wonderful at that moment like it’s an alone structure. Realistically it’s not. Sadly it’s same way we interpret our bible anyway. Life is never so, if not for anything it’s obvious that where there is yang there is yin, where there is truth lies lies, where there is God there is also the devil! And so on and so forth. Life is not perfect that’s why behind someone’s joy and laughter lies a masked sadness/pain. Just because it’s what they want the world to see, or it’s what they want to choose from life doesn’t take away that pain in whatever form it may be hiding or suppressed as. Like one of my favourite gospel artists Lecrae would say, “I don’t believe in luck I believe in grace but I guess we are lucky cos we ve seen his face…” Those of us ‘lucky’ ones that have been so much blessed that our so called problems are so negligible and transient that we need them lest we die (of lack of activity or something) still don’t appreciate what God has done. Pathetic idiocy! We think it’s our right to have it so. Worse still, instead of us to keep thanking God, all we do is to complain and ask for things that are actually problems to us. How merciful and all-knowing He is!
Most times the greatest prayer one can utter is a prayer of thanksgiving. Lift up that heart filled with genuine joy and gratitude and thank him! You would have prayed a prayer that will get answered faster than if u had written a list circling the earth of what you want God to do for you. Thanksgiving, O thanksgiving, thank you Lord!
